Help for the Things That Keep Not Working

I’m a writer. I’m also a certified ADHD coach.

Most of what I write comes from years of working with people who know exactly what they’re supposed to do and can’t figure out why doing it is so hard. Okay, and from being that person. And living in a house full of them.

I see it in families trying to get out the door in the morning. Homework time that sounds like a hostage negotiation. Transitions that turn into yelling matches. Bedtimes that drive parents to drink.

I see it in adults who spent years inside highly structured religious systems and then discovered that leaving didn’t make life easier. Instead, all their adulting skills seemed to fall out at once.

It might look like ADHD. Or burnout. Or trauma.

Or it might be a life that worked fine as long as someone else supplied the rules, the expectations, the accountability, the identity, the structure, and then stopped working the moment all of that was gone.

So my coaching never starts with “How do we make you do the thing?”

It starts with what’s actually happening.

Where does it break down?
What is this brain waiting for?
What’s making this harder than it needs to be?
What’s different on the days it goes better?

Then we experiment. Not with a perfect system built to last forever. Those are not a thing. No. With small changes that tell us something real about you, your brain, your family, and the conditions you actually function in.

I do this two ways.

ADHD and neurodivergent families

This is my work through Attention Families.

Parents usually find me because there’s one thing that keeps falling apart.

Your kid knows what to do. You’ve explained it. Everyone has tried harder. You’ve reminded, made charts, set consequences, changed the routine, bought the organizers, watched the videos, read the books.

And it’s still happening.

That’s where I come in.

We pick one recurring problem and zoom in close enough to see where it’s actually breaking down. Then we figure out what would make that moment easier.

You don’t have to overhaul your family.
You don’t have to fix your kid.
You don’t need another system to fail at.

Start with a free 15-minute Family Fit Call. You tell me what’s going on, and we see whether my kind of coaching makes sense for your family. If it does, the next step is usually a Family Strategy Session, where we work through one specific problem together. Families who want more support can keep going with ongoing coaching.

Coaching for adults

This work snuggles right in tight with what I write about here.

I work with adults who are trying to build a life that actually belongs to them for the first time after years of living by rules, roles, and systems that told them who they were supposed to be.

For a lot of us, leaving a high-control religion is only the first collapse. Then comes the next when you realize you aren’t prepared for regular life moments like:

Making decisions when there’s no right answer.
Figuring out what you actually want.
Building routines without turning them into rules.
Telling the difference between structure that supports you and structure that controls you.
Trusting yourself when you were trained to trust an authority instead.

And, for plenty of us, discovering ADHD or executive-function challenges right in the middle of all of it. Because, of course.

This isn’t about trading one rulebook for another. It’s about learning how your own brain and life work.

Where to start: The Clarity Call

In this complementary short session, we will look at what is actually going on in one stuck place in your life and why it has been harder than it should be. Most people leave with one piece that makes it make sense and shifts how it feels to be stuck there.

Next step: The Clarity Reset

One 90-minute session focused on one place you feel stuck. No program to commit to. You don’t need the problem figured out before you show up.

I know it would be awesome if we could solve everything in our lives all at one time. And most of us are always watching for the program or pill that will do just like that. But a much as we keep buying it, it keeps on not working. Because our life isn’t one big problem. It’s lots of little problems smashed together to look like one hot mess. The good news is that one small moment at a time is much more fixable than a whole life.

Bring the thing you keep circling. The decision you can’t make. The part of your life that quietly stopped working. The problem you’ve thought about so many times you can’t see it anymore.

We’ll slow it down, figure out what’s actually going on, and find a useful next experiment.
